My name is Vernon Mortensen and I'm a retired Navy SWCC.  I retired from the US Navy as a Petty Officer 1st Class (E-6) having served half my career on Active Duty and the other half in the Naval Reserve.  I served at Special Boat Team 12 (both active duty and reserves) as well as Special Boat Team 22 (both active duty and reserves) and loved every minute of it.  I've had just about every job in the Special Boat Teams from Boat Captain and Chief Engineer to Leading Petty Officer (2nd in Command of a Detachment) and the SBT-12 Operations Assistant.  I am a graduate of the NSW Combat Fighting Course, both SERE Level "C" and Advanced SERE, the NSW HRST Course, the Navy Intelligence Photography Course and just too many more schools for me to list here.

The son of Christian missionaries, I have traveled to the ends of the world, both in the military and as a missionary's kid. Now I make my living as a filmmaker (www.unfilms.com) and in the past I have worked as an engineer, a private investigator, a bodyguard, an Emergency Medical Technician, a librarian and as a Substitute Teacher in the Los Angeles inner-city schools.

I have a Master's Degree in Professional Writing (MPW) from the University of Southern California, a BFA in Film Directing from the world renowned Art Center College of Design and a BS from Excelsior College.
